This department is one of the outstanding departments in SAINTGITS College of Engineering and it offers B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, M.Tech in Computer Science & System Engineering, and Ph.D in Computer Science & Engineering. The department is equipped with state-of-art infrastructure and laboratory facilities, experienced and dedicated teachers. They play a key role in the holistic development of the graduates passing out of the department with sound theoretical and practical knowledge added with ethical values. Research is promoted in the department through research oriented project works at the UG and PG level, and research leading to Ph.D degree.
To keep in pace with the fast developments in the Computer Science field, students are trained with add-on-courses through QEEE, NPTEL, and Spoken Tutorials offered by IITs and hands-on experience through workshops in the latest technologies by competent industrial experts. The activities in the chapters of the various professional bodies like, ISTE, IEI, CSI, IEEE etc help in the development of organizational skills in the students. Social awareness and responsibilities are instilled in the students through outreach programmes like Jyothirgamaya and National Service Scheme, which are very active in the department. The department is committed to moulding professionally competent graduates in Computer Science & Engineering, and with its constant strive towards improving its intellectual and infrastructural facilities, it is competent to address the ever-growing needs of Computer Science & Engineering Education.

Computer Science is the scientific and practical approach to computation and its applications. It is the systematic study of the feasibility, structure, expression, and mechanization of the methodical processes (or algorithms) that underlie the acquisition, representation, processing, storage, communication of, and access to information, whether such information is encoded as bits in a computer memory or transcribed in genes and protein structures in a human cell. A computer scientist specializes in the theory of computation and the design of computational systems.
Its subfields can be divided into a variety of theoretical and practical disciplines. Some fields, such as computational complexity theory (which explores the fundamental properties of Computational and intractable problems), are highly abstract, while fields such as computer graphics emphasize real-world visual applications. Still other fields focus on the challenges in implementing computation.
