A six-day FDP on “Role of VLSI & Embedded Systems in Next-Generation Wireless Technologies” in Saintgits College of Engineering in association with Entuple Technologies, Bangalore &Pantech Pro Ed Pvt Ltd, Chennai was held on28th November 28 – December 3, 2016 and inaugurated by Dr. Neelakantan PC, Principal, AdiShankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady.
IETE Sponsored National level Faculty Development programme on 'Embedded Design Using ARM and ARDUINO'
An IETE -sponsored national level FDP on 'Embedded Design Using ARM and ARDUINO' was organized on November 18-24, 2015 by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with Pan Tech Pro Ed, Chennai. The program was inaugurated by Dr. M.V. Rajesh, Principal, Ilahia School of Science and Technology. Five external faculties,16 internal faculties, 16 PG scholars, and one alumni participated in the program. Jagadeesh Kumar P, Assistant Professor, Model Engineering College, Thrikkakkara delivered the keynote address on "Embedded Systems - The Design Process & Platforms - an Overview". VinuKoshy Abraham, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, gave as "Introduction to Embedded Systems".The hands-on sessions on Embedded Design using ARDUINO was supervised by Umashanker, project engineer, PanTechProEd. The hands-on sessions on Embedded Design using ARM was supervised by Gokul Kumar, Team Lead, PanTechProEd.

An IETE-sponsored FDP on CAD Tools in VLSI & Communication was organisedon November 28 - December 12, 2014 by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with Entuple Technologies.The program was inaugurated by C.Krishnakumar, Retd. Dy. General Manager, Cochin Shipyard Ltd, whodelivered a talk on 'Marine Communication Systems'.Dr. Santhosh P Mathew, Professor and Head, Dept. of CSE, SCE, delivered a talk on 'Overview of Research' and Prof. RiboyCheriyanof the department spoke on Introduction to Antenna Design. The hands-on sessions on Ansys Design software were supervised bySarath of Entuple Technologies, while Prof. Pradeep C handled a session on Mentor Graphics.
National level Faculty Development programme on OrCAD, MATLAB and DSP processors
A national-level FDP on OrCAD, MATLAB and DSP processors was organisedon December 2-9, 2013 by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with the IETE. The program was inaugurated by Dr. NishaKuruvilla, Associate Professor, College of Engineering, Chengannur, Kerala, who delivered a keynote speech on 'The role of CAD tools in teaching and research'.Dr. K.P Zacharia, Professor, SCE, delivered a talk on 'Design of single stage RC Coupled amplifier'. The hands-on sessions on OrCAD schematic and Layout were supervised by JyothishChandran G and Georgin Jacob, while the workshop on MATLAB was conducted by Arun Raja and Satheesh N from Coreel Technologies, Bangalore. Georgin Jacob also gave an introduction to DSP processors and hands on training on DSP kits.Dr. Rajesh M V, Principal, Ilahia School of Science and technology, Moovatupuzha, delivered a talk on 'Introduction to DSP, Fourier Analysis and Filters' on the last day.
WORKSHOP ON SIGNAL PROCESSING IN VLSI AND SYSTEM DESIGN
National Level Workshop on 'Signal Processing in VLSI System Design' jointly organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) in association with CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore was conducted from 28/9/2015 to 30/9/2015. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mini M G, Professor, College of Engineering, Cherthala at 10.00 am on 28th September 2015.
Twenty Eight PG Scholars and faculties from colleges in and around Kerala and 16 internal faculties are participated in the programme. Dr. Mini M G delivered a keynote address on "VLSI Architectures for Signal Processing" from 11.00am to 12.45pm.In the afternoon session on 28/9/2015 Dr. Manju Manual, Associate Professor in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, RIT, Pampady, delivered a technical talk and chaired a discussion on "Design of Filter Using Farrow Structure Using Xilinix System Generator".From 29th to 30th the sessions on FPGAs for DSP and Vivado System Generator for DSP were handled by the experts from CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore. The Hands on sessions on 'Digital Signal Processing using Xilinx Vivado & 7-Series FPGAs' were supervised by Er. Bikash R P, Application Engineer, CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore and Er. Shafeek Mohammed Rafffi Application Engineer, CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore. On 29th September 2015 in the forenoon session the theory and design aspects of FPGAs for DSP, Introduction to Vivado System Generator for DSP and Simulink Basics were handled by Er. Bikash R P. In the afternoon, three hands on sessions were provided to the participants. The workshop was very useful to the participants and it provided a platform to interact with experts in the field. The participants were driven to carry out their research and development activities in the emerging areas of VLSI Design
ROBOTICS WORKSHOP 2014
Two day workshop on robotics (ROBO-ZEST'14) followed by zonal competition was conducted at SAINTGITS College of Engineering, Pathamuttom on January 31st and February 1st 2014. It was conducted by Robospecies Pvt Ltd in association with IIT Bombay. The winners of zonal competition were selected for National level competition held at IIT Bombay. The workshop concentrated on 'Touch Screen Robotics' and 3 teams were selected for national event.
WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS
A zonal round of Robotics was conducted as a part of the 'Workshop on Robotics' conducted at SAINTGITS in association with Entrepreneur ship cell, IIT Mumbai on 5th & 6th October 2012. Er. Chinn Mohanan was the coordinator of this workshop. About 169 students from the various departments of the college participated in the training session and the contest that followed. The team from S5 ME bagged the first prize; the teams from S5 ECE and S5 CSE won the Second and third prizes respectively. All the three teams participated in the National Level Competition for ROBOTICS at IIT Mumbai on the 16th March 2013.
