Add on courses in 2015-2016

An add-on course on 'SYSTEM DESIGN USING VHDL' was conducted for S5 ECE students (EC 2014-2018) from 11-07-2016 to 14-07-2016. The main objective of the course was to familiarize Hardware Description Language - VHDL. Theory and practical sessions on Dataflow, Behavioral and Structural styles of modeling were conducted on Day1, Day2 and Day3 respectively and a mini project was given on Day4. On an average, 45 students attended the course and gained valuable exposure on VHDL language. Course Coordinated by Dr. Binu K. Mathew

An add-on course on 'IMAGE PROCESSING TOOL BOX ON MATLAB' in the academic year 2016-2017 has been conducted by the department of ECE for sixth semester ECE students from 18/1/2016 to 19/1/2016. 59 students attended the course, coordinated by Er. Sreekala.K.S and Mr.Aravindan.A. The course covered the areas like Introduction to MATLAB, familiarization of basic MATLAB commands, Analysis and Visualization with Matrices, Introduction to `Image Processing Toolbox etc. After that students did sample projects using MATLAB command and Image processing Tool box. At the end of the program feedback was collected and the students are equipped with a certificate in an add-on.

Add on courses in 2014-2015

An add-on course on Circuit Simulation Using OrRCAD & PCB Layout has been conducted by the department of ECE for fourth semester ECE students (2013 -2017 Batch) from 19/12/2014 to 20/12/2014. 59 students attended the course. Er Aravindhan A & Er Abraham K Thomas were the course co-ordinators.. The students found the course very informative and useful.

An add-on course on 'Electronic Product design' has been conducted by the department of ECE for third semester ECE students from 09/7/2014 to 11/7/2014. 61 students attended the course, coordinated by Mr. Jyothish Chandran G and Mr. Ajith Ravindran. The course covered the areas like familiarization of basic components, familiarization of CRO, Multi-meter and Bread board. After that students did a 5V and 12V power supply on bread board and verified the output. Then they practiced soldering on general PCB and at the end they did a simple project and soldered that on PCB. PCB designing using free softwares were introduced. At the end of the program feedback was collected. The students requested more hands own sessions regularly.

An add-on course on 'Electronic Product design' has been conducted by the department of ECE for fifth semester ECE students from 14/7/2014 to 16/7/2014. 59 students attended the course, coordinated by Mr. Binu K Mathew and Mrs.dhanusha P B. The main objective of the course was to give an introductory knowledge about programming using VHDL and VERILOG. Practical sessions on different types of modelling in vhdl and verilog were conducted. At the end of the program feedback was collected. The students requested more hands own sessions regularly.

A three day course on System sesign using PIC Microcontroller was conducted for the seventh semester ECE students from 9/07/2014 to 11/7/2014 . Er.Chinn Mohanan & Er. Nishanth P R, Assistant Professrors of ECE department lead the course and the practical sessions. The students were familiarized with the architecture, peripherals and programming concepts of PIC microcontroller family. An introduction to the development tools Mikro C Compiler and Proteus simulator was also given. Six sample projects including the usage of various features of PIC microcontrollers were designed, programmed and simulated during the practical sessions.
