The Central Library, functioning as an information disseminating centre catering to the needs of students, researchers and staff community, has a major role in paving the way for better academic excellence. The Central library spreads over two floors with an area of 1120sq.m. Specialized collections of Books, Journals & Non-book materials are available in Basic Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Applied Science and Humanities. There is a collection of 52754 Volumes of Books, 220 Print Journals, magazenes and AICTE mandatory subscription of e journals packages of UG & PG. The SAINTGITS - Central Library has access to e-resources of ASCE Journals, ASME Journals, IEEE ASPP+POP, Science Direct, ASTM-DL, McGraw Hill, J Gate – JET, SPRINGER (ECE,EE &CS) & PRO QUEST. We also have collections of Indian Standards Codes on DVDs. The Library has a collection of NPTEL video courses in different fields of education.
Mission of the Library
The mission of the Library is to acquire, organize, utilize and preserve the information sources and to extend effective and efficient service to the students, research scholars and faculty members of the college.
Library is a dynamic instrument of Education. The fundamental function of a library is to build up a collection, which is dynamic and capable of meeting the changing needs and demands of present as well as future uses. A well-equipped and well-managed library is the foundation of Modern Educational set up.

The SOUL software is used for Library Automation. SOUL Software which is an integrated multi-user management system that supports all in-house operations of the library. Bibliographic records of books available in the library can be accessed through the SOUL OPAC.

Users can rely on the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for checking the location and availability of books.
All the books are bar-coded in the library & barcode laser scanners are used in the circulation counter for book transaction.
Reservation of a Document
Members can reserve the documents by filling up the reservation slip, for the documents which are issued.
Members can also put the reservation slip for the new books which are displayed for a week.
The reserved books are displayed for a week and it is also notified to the members through email and if the books are not issued by the concerned user within a week then it will be issued to the next person who reserves for the same book.
The member should reserve the document personally. Reservation slips are to be given at the circulation counter only.

Library is providing the latest reprographic facility to students to disseminate material quickly and cost effectively aiding better learning on campus.
JOURNALS & MAGAZINES
The entire current journals received in the Central Library are displayed in specially designed Steel Display Racks in Reading Hall and also back volumes arrange under broad subjects kept in first floor.
The Students must carry their College Identity Card/library membership card with them all time inside the Library. Identity Card must be produced while issuing and returning books (if requested by the library staff)
All readers are required to maintain perfect silence and discipline in the library.
The Library staff members at the entrance and exit gate of the Library are authorized to search the person or a reader if he/she suspects that he/she is carrying any other property from the Library.
The borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehavior of users for their misuse of the library.
Library users should enter their names, course, semester, time-in and time-out in the register kept at the entrance.
All personal belongings, such as Textbooks, bag, coat, umbrella, personal files, Xerox material that do not belong to the library must be deposited in the property counter at the entrance of the library at their own risk.
Personal books, Xeroxed and printed loose papers are not allowed inside the library under any circumstances.
Books are issued for staff up to 180 days and for UG students 15 days and PG students 20 days. CDs are issued for 5 days.
Items that are returned after the due date are considered overdue. Overdue fines are assessed at the following rates:(i) Rs. 2.00 per book per day will be charged for Students ,(ii) Rs. 5.00 per book per day will be charged for Faculty & Academic Staff, (iii)Rs. 5.00 per CDs per day will be charged for Students, Faculty & Academic Staff
If the due date happens to be a holiday for the library, the very next working day will be considered as the due date. If a member fails to return the book even on that day, a fine of Rs. 2 (Students) and Rs. 5 (Staff/Students) per book/CDs per day will be charged from the actual due date stamped on the book
Absence from the college will not be considered an excuse for delay in the return of books.
Library cards are not transferable: The borrower card holders should come personally to borrow the books and authorization is not allowed.
A person must verify before leaving the issue desk whether the book is in sound condition or not. Otherwise he/she may be held responsible.
The borrower is responsible for any book issued against the library membership card as per the library records.
No library materials can be taken out of the library without permission of the Librarian.
Photocopying service is available for bonafide members of the library at a nominal charge. All photocopying must comply with copyright legislation.
Loss of ID card must be reported to the college and library. Duplicate Card will be issued from the college office.
Loss of books/damaged books: every borrower from the library is responsible for the safe custody and return of the book borrowed by him/her. In the event of damage or loss he/she shall replace the book or pay the double cost of the book plus pay the fine if any.
Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books Borrowed should be protected from RAIN, FIRE, DUST, INSECT, etc.
Downloading of undesirable e-resources is not allowed and is a punishable offense.
Strict discipline should be maintained in the library. The position of the chairs and tables should not be changed or displaced.
Beverages and eatables are not allowed inside the library. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the library.
No reader is allowed to sleep in the library premises.
The readers are liable for punishment and fine if they either misbehave or damage the books or any other property of the library, decent behavior is expected.
In case any book is lost or damaged by the member, the member shall replace the book or shall pay the cost of replacement. If a book is one of the volumes of a set, the reader may be asked to replace the whole set.
Rare books, Newspapers, unbound periodicals may not be issued.
Reference books will be issued for faculty overnight. Overnight issues shall be returned on due date within four hours of the opening of the Library, failing which the overdue fine of Rs. 10.00 per day per book shall be charged.
If a member does not pay off the library dues, the privilege of borrowing books may be suspended till he/she deposits the requisite amount.
No visitor or guest is permitted to use the Library without the prior permission of the Principal/Librarian. He/She is required to produce a proper introduction letter from the concerned Institution/Organization.
No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Principal/Librarian.
The librarian shall have the power to refuse the issue of books to any member or he may recall any book without assigning any reason.
Any member, before proceeding on leave for more than two monthsor leaving the institution should return all the borrowed books and ID card to the Central Library and get no dues certificate from the Librarian.
“No Dues Certificate” will be issued only after returning the items mentioned in ‘clause 32’ and also after paying any dues outstanding against him/her.
Any member, before going on long leave less than two months should renew all the borrowed books from the central Library.
All students must have cleared all the dues before the respective University Examination.
