In its quest for empowering learners, SIM undertook a nine day Academic exchange program with Donache School of Business, Duquesne University, Pittsburg, US thereby transcending the walls of classrooms from 12th May to 20th May 2009 at Saintgits Campus.

To facilitate our students’ journey to become global leaders, Saintgits Institute of Management has tied up with Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Duquesne’s Donahue Graduate Business Program stands at #18 on the Global Top 100rankedby the Aspen Institute's biennial Beyond Grey Pinstripes survey. Among schools of comparable size, Duquesne ranks number 2 worldwide. The program also started faculty exchanges in 2011.

Sustainability has been the main focus of the 10-day annual academic exchange program. In 2009 and 2010, the study teams conducted field visits to micro enterprises like Kudumashree, traditional industries such as coir, spices etc. and modern industries such a sole ferons, and cutting-edge computing and consultancy in Techno park to explore sustainability issues. The exchange programs also included sustainability audits of select companies, sharing of research experiences between the two institutes, and cultural tutorials and local tourism.

In 2011,the program focused on sustainable tourism in the Vembanad Lake ecosystem. The five student teams developed case studies on five aspects of the hospitality industry in the Vembanad area: resorts, houseboats, homestays, ayurvedic residential programs, and stakeholders such as transportation, logistics, infrastructure and the community. In 2013, the program focused on six aspects of food sustainability, such as food ecosystems, food production, distribution, technologies, organic movement, and livestock.

In 2014, the program was designed for the Duquesne team to undergo two short-term courses in Marketing and Management, spanning for almost a month in two cities,Kottayam and Chennai.
