Admission Process


Welcome to SIM, second among B-schools in Kerala. We provide excellent research-oriented, practical MBA education that is reflected in our excellent placement record and in the number of students who have launched successful startups. We dare to innovate and learn to execute.


SIM grants MBA degree of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram. Admission is 100 percent on merit, and follows a two-stage scientific process:

Stage 1

The eligible student must have a high KMAT/CMAT/CAT score, relevant industry experience, and a bachelor’s degree from M.G. University (or an equivalent degree from any other university recognised by Kerala Technological University) with not less than 50% marks in aggregate.

Stage 2

Those selected at stage 1 will attend a session at the institute, which will involve a group discussion, an extempore speech, and a range of personality and aptitude tests, culminating in a face-to-face interview. We give due weightage for work experience, gender balance, socio-cultural balance, and a liberal spread of basic disciplines.

A passport-size photograph pasted on the application form

Statement of purpose - This is a very important document. It is a written statement of 300 to 400 words describing why you intend to do MBA and why you selected Saintgits Institute of Management. This must be hand written by the candidate and original.

Medical certificate - In case you are suffering from any chronic condition or illness, please enclose a certificate from a registered medical practitioner that your can still undergo the course.

Group Discussion And Personal Interview

We call all applicants for a Group Discussion and Personal Interview at our campus in Pathamuttom, Kottayam. At this event, you are expected to make a speech on a subject of your choice, and take some diagnostic tests to help us guide you on your strengths and weaknesses. Please come well prepared and dressed in business formals – suit and tie for men, and sari/business suit for women.

Reaching the Institute

You can reach the Pathamuttom campus by bus from Kottayam (Nagambadam bus station), Changanacherry or Kurichi (between Kottayam and Changancherry on the MC Road). Please see location map for navigation details.

Selection and Payment of Commitment Fee

Your selection will be communicated to you within 48 hours of the GDPI. Selected candidates need to pay a seat commitment fee of Rs. 25,000 within seven days of the result, failing which the seat will go to the waitlisted candidates. The commitment fee is part of the overall tuition fees, and will be adjusted against the first semester dues.

Financing your Studies

This is an AICTE approved course, and you can apply for an educational loan at competitive rates. We encourage students to apply for a loan because we want our aspiring managers to gain confidence and independence by funding their journey toward a corporate career. Students from economically weak families with more than 80 percent scores can apply for merit scholarships. You can find out more from the Admissions Office.

Induction Program

The course starts sometime during June 1-15, and the exact date is communicated to the selected applicants. You wil begin the course with an exciting and experiential induction programme designed to grow your communication skills and confidence, and to motivate you to embrace the new learning experience. Conducted by experienced faculty members and supported by two psychologists, the programme includes a boot camp, a public speaking course, corporate visits, attitude training, neurolinguistic programming, and guided study of business newspapers (The Economic Times).

Pre Induction Project

You are expected to complete a pre induction project, which involves creating a report based on visiting one or two industries in your area. Please bring this report on your first day. You will receive the necessary information on how to do this project when your seat is confirmed.
