Saintgits MCA Association of the Radiant Talents

The Saintgits MCA Association of the Radiant Talents (SMART) had a simple beginning in the year 2006, was inaugurated by Dr.K.R.Srivathsan, Hon. Director, IITM-K, Thiruvananthapuram. SMART is build in order to illuminate the co curricular activities of the students

SMART has released one Department News Letter, SMARTNEWS, along with its soft version SMARTSOFT in 2007 and 2008 and they conducted various activities, workshops, invited talks etc., that are quite helpful to the students apart from their core curriculum. Apart from the invited talks and, publication of a newsletter, SMART is planning various activities like imparting Information Technology to the young upcoming talents of neighbouring schools, intra-class competitions on academic as well as non-academic domains, placement-oriented self-training on the problems (both technical and analytical) that seems to be tough in nature, intra-class quiz competitions, improving the English communications' skills of the students using state of the art soft methods as well as conventional approaches.


SMART Activities (2010-2011)

MCA Association (SMART) activities for the year 2010-2011, inaugurated by Mr. Anand Bellan Raman , Regional Manager-Global Learning Services, Red Hat Inc., on 14th July 2010.The meeting was presided over by Shri. Thomas T. John - Director, SAINTGITS. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Santhosh P. Mathew, HOD - CSE & MCA. After inauguration and distribution of RHCE certificates for qualified students of 2008-'11 Batch, chief Guest gave a technical talk on Open Source and Proprietary Software, importance of sharing knowledge and Cloud Computing from 11:45 AM - 01:15 PM.

Free Software Foundation

 

The SAINTGITS Free Software Cell (SFSC), established on 31st March, 2009, is dedicated to promoting technical knowledge about free software. The cell was inaugurated by Dr. V.A. Sasi Kumar, Member, Board of Directors, and FSFI.  

Free software is a matter of the users' freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. The first workshop organized under the SFSC was the Introduction to Python conducted by ILUG, Cochin. 


Computer Society of India- Students Chapter(CSI)


The Computer Society of India is a non-Profit professional meet to exchange views and information learn and share ideas. The mission of the CSI is to facilitate research, knowledge sharing, learning and career enhancement for all categories of IT professionals, while simultaneously inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT community. The CSI is also working closely with other industry associations, government bodies and academia to ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India. Today, the CSI has 66 chapters all over India, 381 student branches, and more than 40,000 members, including India's most famous IT industry leaders, brilliant scientists and dedicated academicians. Dr K. Poulose, Director of Computer Science & Studies, CUSAT inaugurated the 67th CSI branch at SAINTGITS campus on 19th February 2009 and talked about the mission of CSI, the present recession in the IT Field and ways to  overcome the problems. He emphasized the need to develop creative attitude and loyalty.
