Status of Cross Functional Teams in India

Cross-functional teams often function as self-directed teams responding to broad, but not specific directives. Decision-making within a team may depend on consensus, but often is led by a manager/coach/team leader. In business, a "cross functional team" is a group of people with different functional expertise working toward a common goal. Typically, it includes employees from all levels of an organization. Members may also come from outside an organization. Crossfunctional teams seem to be most effective in companies with fast-changing markets, such as the computer, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and similar industries that value adaptability, speed, and an intense focus on responding to customer needs. The paper investigates the status of Cross Functional Team in a few Indian organizations by visiting the HR of reputed Companies operating in India.
