IETE Sponsored National level Faculty Development programme on 'Embedded Design Using ARM and ARDUINO'

IETE Sponsored National level Faculty development programme on 'Embedded Design Using ARM and ARDUINO' organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with PanTech ProEd Pvt Ltd was conducted from 18/11/2015 to 24/11/2015. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. M. V Rajesh, Principal, Ilahia School of Science and Technology, Hon. Secretary, IETE Kochi Center at 10.00 am on 18th November 2015.

Five faculties from colleges in and around KERALA ,16 internal faculties, 16 PG Scholars and 1 alumni were participated in the programme. Er. Jagadeesh Kumar P, Assistant Professor, Model Engineering College, Thrikkakkara delivered a keynote speak on "Embedded Systems - The Design Process & Platforms - an Overview"from 11.00am to 1.00 pm. Afternoon session was handled by Er. Vinu Koshy Abraham, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, SAINTGITS College of Engineering on "Introduction to Embedded Systems".

The Hands on sessions on Embedded Design using ARDUINO was supervised by Umashanker, Project Engineer of PanTech ProEd Pvt Ltd, Chennai on 19th November and 20th November 2015. The hands on sessions on Embedded Design using ARM was supervised by Er. Gokul Kumar, Team Lead, PanTech ProEd Pvt Ltd, Chennai from 21st November to 24th November 2015 . The FDP came to a close with the valedictory function at 3.00pm on 24thNovember 2015

IETE Sponsored National level FDP on " CAD tools in VLSI & Communication "

IETE Sponsored National level Faculty development programme on CAD Tools in VLSI & Communication organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with Entuple Technologies was conducted from 28/11/2014 to 05/12/2014. The programme was inaugurated by Er.C.Krishnakumar, Retd. Dy. General Manager, Cochin Shipyard Ltd., Cochin, Kerala at 10.00 am on 28th November 2014. The meeting was presided by Dr. M. C. Philipose, Principal, SAINTGITS College of Engineering, Kottayam. Er. Beena A. O, Coordinator of FDP delivered the welcome address and Er. Sreekala K. S, Staff Club Secretary- ECE delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Riboy Cheriyan, introduced the chief guest Er. C. Krishnakumar to the audience. Lt. Col. John Jacob, Chief Operating Officer and Academic Provost, SAINTGITS Group of Institutions and Dr. M. D Mathew, Dean-PG and Research Studies felicitated the programme. The inaugural session came to an end by 11.00 am by national anthem. Eight faculties from colleges in and around KERALA and 16 internal faculties participated in the programme. Dr. K. P. Zacharia delivered a keynote speak on Marine Communication Systems. Er. C. Krishnakumar delivered a talk on 'Marine Communication Systems' at 11.00 am on 28th November 2014.

Afternoon session was handled by Dr. Santhosh P Mathew, Professor and Head, Dept. of CSE, SAINTGITS College of Engineering and Prof. Riboy Cheriyan, Dept. of ECE. Dr. Santhosh P Mathew delivered a talk on the topic an 'Overview of Research' and Prof. Riboy Cheriyan delivered a talk on Introduction to Antenna Design. The Hands on sessions on Ansys Design software were supervised by Er. Sarath of Entuple Technologies, Bangalore on 29th November and 1st December 2014. Prof. Pradeep C handled a session on Mentor Graphics Back end tools was conducted by Er. Jyothish Chandran G and Er. Ajith Ravindran of ECE Dept on 3rd to 5th December 2014. The FDP came to an end with the valedictory function at 1.00pm on 5th December 2014.

National level Faculty Development programme on OrCAD, MATLAB and DSP processors

National level Faculty development programme on OrCAD, MATLAB and DSP processors Organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering in association with IETE was conducted From 02/12/2013 to 09/12/2013. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Nisha Kuruvilla, Associate Professor and HOD in charge, College of Engineering, Chengannur, Kerala at 10.30 am on 2nd December 2013. The inaugural session came to an end by 11.15 am by national anthem. Fourteen faculties from colleges in and around KERALA and 14 internal faculties participated in the programme. Dr. Nisha Kuruvilla delivered a keynote speak on 'The role of CAD tools in teaching and research' at 11.30 am on 2nd December 2013. The session was very useful for the participants. Everybody got an insight to the various tools available for teaching and research works.

Afternoon session was handled by Dr. K.P Zacharia, Professor, ECE, SAINTGITS College of Engineering. He delivered a talk on the topic 'Design of single stage RC Coupled amplifier'. The Hands on sessions on OrCAD schematic and Layout were supervised by Er. Jyothish Chandran G and Er. Georgin Jacob of ECE Department on 3rd and 4th December 2013. The workshop on MATLAB was conducted by Mr. Arun Raja and Mr. Satheesh N from Coreel Technologies, Bangalore on 5th and 6th December 2013. Er. Georgin Jacob gave an introduction to DSP processors and hands on training on DSP kits on 7th December 2013. Dr. Rajesh M V, Principal , Ilahia School of Science and technology, Moovatupuzha delivered a talk on 'Introduction to DSP, Fourier Analysis and Filters' on the last day. The FDP came to a close with the valedictory function at 1.00pm on 9th December 2013.

WORKSHOP ON SIGNAL PROCESSING IN VLSI AND SYSTEM DESIGN

National Level Workshop on 'Signal Processing in VLSI System Design' jointly organized by Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) in association with CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore was conducted from 28/9/2015 to 30/9/2015. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mini M G, Professor, College of Engineering, Cherthala at 10.00 am on 28th September 2015.

Twenty Eight PG Scholars and faculties from colleges in and around Kerala and 16 internal faculties are participated in the programme. Dr. Mini M G delivered a keynote address on "VLSI Architectures for Signal Processing" from 11.00am to 12.45pm.In the afternoon session on 28/9/2015 Dr. Manju Manual, Associate Professor in Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, RIT, Pampady, delivered a technical talk and chaired a discussion on "Design of Filter Using Farrow Structure Using Xilinix System Generator".From 29th to 30th the sessions on FPGAs for DSP and Vivado System Generator for DSP were handled by the experts from CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore. The Hands on sessions on 'Digital Signal Processing using Xilinx Vivado & 7-Series FPGAs' were supervised by Er. Bikash R P, Application Engineer, CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore and Er. Shafeek Mohammed Rafffi Application Engineer, CoreEl Technologies, Bangalore. On 29th September 2015 in the forenoon session the theory and design aspects of FPGAs for DSP, Introduction to Vivado System Generator for DSP and Simulink Basics were handled by Er. Bikash R P. In the afternoon, three hands on sessions were provided to the participants. The workshop was very useful to the participants and it provided a platform to interact with experts in the field. The participants were driven to carry out their research and development activities in the emerging areas of VLSI Design

ROBOTICS WORKSHOP 2014

Two day workshop on robotics (ROBO-ZEST'14) followed by zonal competition was conducted at SAINTGITS College of Engineering, Pathamuttom on January 31st and February 1st 2014. It was conducted by Robospecies Pvt Ltd in association with IIT Bombay. The winners of zonal competition were selected for National level competition held at IIT Bombay. The workshop concentrated on 'Touch Screen Robotics' and 3 teams were selected for national event.

WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS

A zonal round of Robotics was conducted as a part of the 'Workshop on Robotics' conducted at SAINTGITS in association with Entrepreneur ship cell, IIT Mumbai on 5th & 6th October 2012. Er. Chinn Mohanan was the coordinator of this workshop. About 169 students from the various departments of the college participated in the training session and the contest that followed. The team from S5 ME bagged the first prize; the teams from S5 ECE and S5 CSE won the Second and third prizes respectively. All the three teams participated in the National Level Competition for ROBOTICS at IIT Mumbai on the 16th March 2013.
