IBM Centre of Excellence
Department benefits itself through the Memorandum of Understanding with the IT-industry leader IBM. The college has already established IBM Software Centre of Excellence, which aims at increasing the skill sets of the faculty and students of the college, leading to the improvement in the quality of technical education, increase in the employability of students, placing the college in a leadership position and to conduct unlimited training for the students through the faculty enabled by IBM. In addition, IBM also plans to bring its Global Entrepreneurship Initiative (GEI), which helps start-ups capture new business opportunities by providing access to technology resources from IBM. Apart from providing training, certification and software which is free of charge to the college, IBM plans to take the CoE to the next logical level of converting it into an Incubation Center, to bolster software skills and ensure industry-ready professionals. Under this concept, the company aims to work towards creating a bridge between the industry and academia by creating a program where industry can use the CoE set up and the certified resources in the college to create innovative software projects and proof of concepts. Various training and certification programs in DB2 and RAD are giving on regularly.
Students are encouraged to gain industry exposure through industrial visits. To get familiarized with the latest technological trends in the software industry and to set straight the image the students would have on the working of an IT business enterprise, the department offers opportunities for all the students to interact on a consistent basis with industries by way of visits to many renowned companies. Industries expose them to corporate work culture, learning environment, services offered to global customers and help them to learn leading edge technologies.
