Associate Professor Jacob George and thirteen MBA students executed a Management Consultancy on behalf of Saintgits Institute of Management (SIM) for Kottayam Port and Container Terminal Services Pvt. Ltd. (KPACT) during August 1st 2009 - January 31st 2010.
The management consultancy was undertaken with the twin objectives of
1) Developing a business strategy for the Inland Container Depot (ICD) and
2) Doing business developmental activities with the assistance of the students of Saintgits Institute of Management in the role of junior consultants.
The main activities revolved around:
• Developing the tariff of the ICD and fixing the price range of the barge transportation.
• Carrying out a break-even analysis based on the information given by the management.
•  Conducting a comprehensive questionnaire based market survey of the potential Full Container load (FCL) customers of the port in the three districts of Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Idukki towards the end of the period.
• A detailed sector-wise analysis of the market based on the survey.
• Promotional activities done among the major liners, clearing house agents (CHAs) and the citizens of Kottayam through various forums and also during the inauguration ceremony of the ICD.


Consultancy with Nihon NeST Corporation, Tokyo, Japan.

 Associate Professor Ajith Thomas was awarded a consultancy to report on the automobile sector in India and to develop a list of companies in India, for Seiko Japan, who have the potential to buy Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM) for automobile application. Professors, Researchers & Academicians in the fields of mechatronics, senior and middle level managers from various Automobile and Electronics companies and practicing managers from various functions like sales, marketing and production were interviewed to arrive at the reports. The period of consultancy was for a duration of three months in 2010-2011.

Consultancy on feasibility of an Automatic power laundry and dry-cleaning facility in Kochi, Kerala.

This consultancy awarded to Prof. Ajith Thomas is to study the feasibility of an automatic power laundry and dry cleaning facility in the outskirts of Kochi, Kerala. The work involves monthly reporting on the industry apart from the feasibility report. The work is awarded by a group of 5 NRIs based in USA and UAE. The company's name is reserved. The period of study is 6 months from September 2012.
