Saintgits wins the prestigious IDA – STEM Award for Community Development.
Model Examination for 5th semester UG and 3rd semester PG students will be conducted from 19th January 2021 onwards.

Ms. Angel Baby and Ms. Gayathri R. from final year BCA of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences bagged the first placement offers in the new campus recruitment season. Both of them placed as Associate Analyst in Deloitte.

Saintgits College of Applied Sciences Students Association (SCASSA)

The Saintgits College of Applied Sciences Students Association, (SCASSA) is a body elected annually as per the guidelines provided by Mahatma Gandhi University. The election to the college union is  conducted in the parliamentary model as per para 6.2.4 of the J.M.Lyngdoh Commission Report and order passed by the Supreme Court of India in SLP No. 24295/2004. The college union will have a students’ general council and an executive. All students are members of the students’ general council. 

A meeting of all class representatives is convened to elect the members of SCASSA/College Union Execuitive. Students contesting in the election should have a minimum of 75% attendance and should not have any arrears. Students who have faced any kind of disciplinary actions are also not eligible to contest the elections. Students are also not allowed to contest the elections under the banner of student political organizations. The college Union is subject to the rules and regulations of the college as well those notified by Principal from time to time. It shall also not engage in political activity of any kind.  A staff member nominated by the Principal guides the union in its activities.

The objectives of the college union maybe summed up as follows:

  1. To groom students into law abiding  and responsible citizens
  2. Make students aware of  their duties, responsibilities and rights 
  3. To provide opportunities for personality development through organisation of various events
  4. To train students in parliamentary democracy 
  5. To develop initiative, self-reliance and leadership skills among the students

The elected members of SCASSA are introduced in a formal function.

 An active student body in the college, SCASSA organises all the cultural, sports  and social activities in the college. The major events organised by SCASSA include:

  • Gits Blitz (Inter collegiate  cultural fest conducted annually in which major colleges from around the state participates)
  • Onam celebration
  • Christmas celebration
  • Holi celebration
  • Talents day (An occasion for students to display their talents)
  • Sports day
  • Merit day (An event organised  annually for honouring meritorious students)

The meetings of the college Union is  summoned by the chairman after informing the teacher –in-charge and finalizing the agenda for the same. The union holds frequent meetings in the presence of the teacher- in- charge and discusses issues related to students and the functioning of the college. The meeting gives the students an opportunity to put forward suggestions and report matters of concern. The SCASSA members are kept well informed about the developments, initiatives and activities in the college. The discussions and suggestions of the meetings are recorded and the same is submitted to the college Principal and mentioned in the staff council meetings. The SCASSA members also receive grooming in personality development, leadership, etiquette etc. SCASSA plays a major role in maintaining a democratic environment in the campus.
