Mr Joseph Thaliyadi, Trade Instructor, Saintgits College of Engineering won the Dr K Ayyappa Paniker Memorial Award for his contributions in the field of poetry.

Ayyappa Paniker Foundation is a cultural organisation based in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The main objective of the foundation is to continue and promote the creative and cultural spirit of Ayyappa Paniker – to explore the possibilities of language, to identify and nurture young poets, to promote research into Malayalam and other literary cultures, and to sensitize human minds to the suffering of others. In this direction, the Ayyappa Paniker Foundation organises symposia and seminars, conducts workshops and publishes journals and books. The Foundation was formed in 2006 with the purpose to promote his work and Malayalam poetry. Dr K Ayyappa Paniker was one of the pioneers of modernism in Malayalam poetry and his influential poems were considered a turning point in Malayalam poetry. With unique contributions to different avenues of literature, Dr Paniker was honoured with many prestigious awards and recognitions like the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry.
