Saintgits takes pride on being selected by IIT Mumbai, as its ‘e-OUTREACH Programme Remote Centre’. By this IIT Mumbai aims to enhance the teaching skills of faculty in engineering and science, of its member colleges through what is termed “Empowerment of students and teachers through Synchronous and Asynchronous Instruction”. Project Ekalavya was initiated in 2004 to generate an interactive platform for the creation, absorption, dissemination and usage of knowledge. It is an Open Source Knowledge Initiative launched by Department of Computer Science & Engineering, IIT Bombay. Ekalavya is manifested in several programmes such as the eGURU, the eOUTREACH and the eCONTENT. The OSCAR (Open Source Courseware Animations Repository) scheme under the eOUTREACH programme creates a large repository of interactive animations for teaching various concepts and technologies. In addition, the “Teach 1000 Teachers” programme was initiated by IIT Bombay in 2009 under the project, “Empowerment of Students/Teachers,” sponsored by National Mission on Education Through ICT (NMEICT), funded by MHRD. The main aim of this programme is to work with Engineering Colleges in the country to enhance the teaching skills of faculty colleagues in core Engineering and Science subjects.
