Having done his B Tech. in Computer Science, he found his true calling in design and did his Master of Design in Visual Communication from Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay. Working with C-DAC (Pune) and Malayala Manorama (Kottayam), he developed the first set of original Malayalam digital typefaces still popular in the media. Setting up his own design consultancy in Kochi in 1997, he had worked for sectors as varied as hospitals, hotels, pharma, IT, media, publishing, education and NGOs consulting in branding, type design, promotions, packaging, signage, publications, multimedia and user interface design for twenty years before the academic bug bit him again. After having taught at MITID (Pune), Anant (Ahmedabad), Srishti (Bangalore) and DJ (Coimbatore) for a few years, he heads Saintgits Design School since its inception while pursuing his PhD in Malayalam typography at NID (Ahmedabad).
Nithin Jacob Eapen
Nithin is a product designer, who graduated in 2012 from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bangalore, India and worked in the retail product design industry for about four and a half years. Till 2016, he was the co-founder of a brand that upcycled products for about a year. His Master’s degree in Industrial Design from Scuola Politecnica Di Design (SPD) in 2017 opened new opportunities, working with professionally acclaimed designers. At the initiative ‘Essential’ from SPD, under the guidance of the designer Matteo Rani, Nithin exhibited his product in the Milan Design Week 2017. After a few years of experience, he returned to India, indulging in academics and practising design. He taught Design at NIFT Kannur for M Des. students and at the College of Architecture Trivandrum for B Des. students. He is a designer by heart and has a curious mind that has pushed him to have hands-on experience in various areas of design education, practice and business.
