Saintgits Institute of Management [SIM] is recognized as a Research Centre of A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram. SIM offers Ph.D. programme in Management and inter-disciplinary areas leading to award of Degree of Doctor of Philosophy by the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technological University, Thiruvananthapuram (here after referred to as KTU). SIM has also been a Centre for post-doctoral research fellows (PDF) of Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and Chief Minister’s Nava Kerala Post-Doctoral Fellowship (CMNPF). The Centre has also been instrumental in promoting research among our faculty. An indicative list for the research outcome of SIM faculty can be found here.
The doctoral programme strictly adheres to the requirements of the KTU with regards to the research outcome and involves acquiring exhaustive conceptual knowledge and applying it to generate actionable research outcome. The rules regarding eligibility, entrance examination, interview, registration, supervision, submission and evaluation of thesis, viva-voce, defense of thesis etc. shall be as per the directions of the KTU. The indicative details based on the 2020 admissions are as below:
There will be three categories of Ph. D. admission namely, full-time scholars, part-time scholars who are faculty members of the University Departments or of an affiliated college and external part-time scholars who work in Research Organisations or Research & Development Centre recognized by KTU for the purpose of external registration.
Eligibility
- Master’s degree in Management or equivalent PG Diploma in Management from National Institutes or Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in Management related streams with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 is mandatory.
- Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Community (Non-Creamy Layers) / Differently-abled category candidates (with more than 40% disability) are eligible for admission with a minimum CGPA of 5.5.
Selection Procedure
Application for admission to the PhD programs shall be invited by KTU once a year, in the even semester leading to admission in the odd semester or the subsequent even semester. Selection shall be through a common written tests and/or personal interview as decided by the University from time to time. Selection of the candidate will be provisional until the final approval by the University.
AICTE QIP/NDF scholars and candidates with CSIR/UGC JRF fellowship are exempted from appearing for the test and interview. Such candidates can avail admission in the odd or even semester.
