Coding club

ABOUT

CODING & HACKATHON Club @ SCAS is the official coding and technology club of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences, dedicated to nurturing analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and industry-ready technical abilities among students.

Our mission is to create a vibrant coding culture on campus by empowering students with the latest tools, technologies, and collaborative learning opportunities. We bring together enthusiastic learners from various programs to build, compete, innovate, and grow together.

What We Do

  • Provide structured training and mentorship to enhance competitive coding skills.
  • Conduct weekly HackerRank challenges to encourage consistent practice and logical thinking.
  • Support students in preparing for placements, hackathons, and ideathons.
  • Organize coding competitions, hackathons, workshops, and technical events.
  • Facilitate peer learning through mentoring and interactive sessions.
  • Guide students in project development, research paper writing, and innovation initiatives.

Weekly HackerRank Challenges

To promote a culture of consistent coding practice, CODING & HACKTHON Club @SCAS conducts HackerRank challenges every weekend.

These challenges:

  • Strengthen problem-solving and algorithmic thinking.
  • Prepare students for technical interviews and competitive exams.
  • Encourage healthy competition and continuous improvement.

CRESTA – The Ultimate Coding Competition

CRESTA is our flagship coding competition designed to test logical thinking, programming skills, and debugging abilities through multiple rounds.

Competition Structure:

Round 1 – Online Screening
An online preliminary round conducted to shortlist participants based on coding aptitude.

Round 2 – HackerRank Coding Round
Shortlisted candidates compete in a timed coding contest hosted on HackerRank, solving real-time programming problems.

Round 3 – Debugging Round
Finalists identify and fix errors in given code snippets, testing their analytical and debugging skills.

Winners were awarded prizes and certificates in recognition of their excellence.

Hackathon Initiatives

CODING &HACKTHON @SCAS integrates innovation and teamwork through hackathons that promote real-world problem solving.

🎯 Workshop on CNN for Image Classification

As part of the hackathon initiative:

  • A hands-on workshop on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) for Image Classification was conducted.
  • The session was handled by M.Sc.AI 2nd Year students for M.Sc. AI 1st Year students, encouraging peer-to-peer learning.
  • Students learned about:
    • Fundamentals of CNN
    • Model building for image classification
    • Practical implementation using deep learning frameworks

This initiative strengthened both technical knowledge and teaching confidence among students.

SCRIPT SQUAD – Innovation to Implementation

SCRIPT SQUAD is a multi-stage innovation challenge designed to transform ideas into working solutions.

📅 Event Timeline:

  • Idea submission started on 24th January 2026
  • Extended until 26th January 2026

🔄 Event Rounds:

Round 1 – Idea Submission
Students submitted innovative project ideas.

Round 2 – Prototype Development
Selected teams developed a working prototype and presented their concepts.

Round 3 – Final Implementation & Presentation
Teams implemented their complete solution and presented it before the judging panel.

The event was judged by Asst. Prof. Aiswarya R Lakshmi and Asst. Prof. Sreejith Ramakrishnan, and winners were awarded prizes.

Our Vision

CODING & HACKTHON @SCAS envisions building a strong community of innovators, coders, and future technology leaders who are ready to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Through continuous learning, peer collaboration, competitions, and innovation-driven programs, we strive to transform students into confident problem solvers and skilled professionals.
