“Remember God in everything. Let no one grieve because of you. Never let go an opportunity to do something good. Only those things will remain with you till the end.”

Saint Gregorios of Parumala, popularly known as ‘Parumala Thirumeni’, was born on Jun 15 1848 at Mulamthuruthy. He shines in the cloud of witnesses as a bright luminary giving rays of hope to millions in their suffering and struggles. Thirumeni’s life was one of righteousness and holiness. Through his prayers, many were cured from mental illness, and many received peace and spiritual prosperity. The Holy Father’s short life was remarkable in many respects and he made it clear to the world that prayer and devotion is mightier than any worldly possession.

He was a deacon at the age of 10, a priest at the age of 18, and a bishop at the young age of 28 (the reason for calling him ‘Kochu Thirumeni’). Dedication and sacrifice were the key words of his life. His busy schedules never deterred him from hearing the grievances of the common man and was always in the forefront extending necessary help to them. Thirumeni’s life was one of righteousness and holiness. He passed away at the age of 54 on Nov 2 1902, after a saintly life of righteousness, to become the brightest jewel of the Universal Syrian Church.
