This course prepares the students to analyze the business environment and its impact on the corporate firms. It is a 4 year MGU-UGP programme. This course equips the students with quantitative skills along with the theoretical knowledge.
The principal aims and objectives of the program are:
- Forecasting, information provision, policy analysis and consulting
- Monitoring current economic trends
- Developing unique insights on how external events affect the domestic economy
- Monitors and disseminates key indicators such as inflation, employment, interest rates and exchange rates
- Catering to the requirements of the corporate world and this would offer immense career opportunities in corporate firms, banking, finance and insurance sectors as market analysts, financial analysts, economists etc.
- Preparing of forecasts of variables influencing the operations of corporate firms at various levels, for both planning and budgeting
- The monitoring of the economy and other factors on a continuous basis
- Responding to the current problems facing corporate or parts thereof, which involve problem-definition, detailed analysis, generating alternative solutions
Eligibility
Candidates must have passed Plus Two Higher Secondary course in Kerala or its equivalent approved by the Government of Kerala.

From HOD’s desk
Greetings from the Department of Economics, Saintgits College of Applied Sciences. We offer an undergraduate degree programme in Corporate Economics which is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam from 2014. I am happy to report that the present course is a judicious mix of Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Application, Accountancy and Principles of Management. We are the only college in the State of Kerala to offer such an innovative course. The ultimate aim of the present course is to develop professional economists for a variety of careers in teaching, government, industry and international institutions.
Most of the students who went out of the college after the course are now pursuing their P.G. programme in reputed national and global institutions. Special mention deserves the names of Mr. Praise Babu who is studying the MD program in Baruch Public College, New York City, Amrutha Suresh in IBS Bangalore, Riya Susan George for M.Sc. Agri Business in Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Mathew Thomas P for International Business Management and Logistics in St. Clare College, Canada.
Much of our reputation rests ultimately on the quality of our faculty. We are proud to say that all our faculty are fully qualified and have a master’s degree from reputed institutions in Kerala and from other states.
