VAC Orientation

The Orientation Programme for the Value-Added Courses (VACs) was held successfully on 03rd June 2025 at DB Seminar Hall, marking a significant step in the institution’s commitment to providing a holistic and interdisciplinary learning experience to its undergraduate students. Organized with the aim of broadening academic exposure beyond the boundaries of the core curriculum, the session highlighted the importance of integrating Value Added Courses into mainstream education to meet the evolving demands of higher learning and employability.
This academic year, six departments—Economics, Commerce, Psychology, English, Malayalam, and Hindi—came forward with VACs, each designed to offer distinctive perspectives and practical skills that complement students’ major areas of study. During the orientation, representatives from each department presented an overview of their respective courses, including their objectives, content, methodology, and expected outcomes. These presentations were insightful and encouraged students to reflect on how these interdisciplinary courses could support their personal interests, academic enrichment, and professional development.
The orientation witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across disciplines. The interactive nature of the session, coupled with clear communication of guidelines and expectations, ensured that students remained actively engaged throughout. Emphasis was laid on the importance of choosing a VAC outside one’s own discipline to promote broader academic exposure. The overall response from the student community was positive, and the course selection process, initiated via a Google Form, is expected to see timely and thoughtful submissions.
By organizing this orientation programme, the institution has reaffirmed its commitment to enriching the academic environment and fostering a culture of lifelong learning. The successful execution of the event not only reflects the collaborative spirit among departments but also aligns with the goals of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and NAAC in enhancing curriculum flexibility, interdisciplinary competence, and student-centered learning.
