On 4 June 2026, sixteen students from the Department of Commerce participated in a seminar organized by Malayala Manorama in association with Nippon India Mutual Fund. Conducted from 3.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m., the seminar focused on financial literacy, investment planning, and mutual fund awareness. The programme enhanced students’ understanding of investment opportunities and informed financial decision-making.

On 1 July 2026, the Induction Programme for the first-year students of the academic year 2026–27 was organised to facilitate a smooth transition into college life and familiarise students with the academic environment of the Department of Commerce. As part of the programme, a mentoring session was conducted for the first-year Commerce students, providing them with an opportunity to interact with their respective class teachers and faculty mentors.

On 3 July 2026, an Alumni Interaction Session was organised as part of the Student Induction Programme for first-year students. Mr. Sanju P. Cherian, Motivational Speaker and alumnus of the B.Com. Computer Applications (2008–11 Batch), conducted an engaging ice-breaking session for the newly admitted students. The session helped students feel comfortable in their new academic environment while providing an opportunity to interact with and gain inspiration from a successful alumnus.

On 07 July 2026, as part of the Student Induction Programme 2026, the first-year B.Com (Honours) S1A students of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences organized a Social Visit to ICSC Theeram, Thrikothamangalam, a residential care centre for specially challenged individuals. The visit was conducted from 9.30 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., with the participation of 46 students. As part of the programme, a donation of ₹9,000 was presented towards the welfare of the residents.

On 07 July 2026, as part of the Student Induction Programme 2026, the first-year B.Com (Honours) S1B students of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences organized a social visit to Amma Veedu, Manarcadu. The visit was conducted from 9.30 a.m. to 12.45 p.m., providing the students with a meaningful opportunity to engage with the residents and understand the importance of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility. As a gesture of support and care, a donation of ₹10,500 was presented towards the welfare of the residents.

On 10 July 2026, the Department of Commerce, Saintgits College of Applied Sciences, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), successfully inaugurated the Commerce Association – YASHUS 2026–27 at the DB Seminar Hall. The inaugural programme featured an Alumni Interaction Module with Dr. Megha Jacob, Retail Head, St. Gregorios Cashew Industries, and an esteemed alumna of the B.Com. Computer Applications (2013–2016) batch.

On 10 July 2026, the Department of Commerce organised an Alumni Interaction Session as part of the Commerce Association activities for the academic year 2026–27. Dr. Megha Jacob, alumna of the institution, addressed the students on the theme “Beyond the Degree: Turning Opportunities into Impact.” Drawing from her professional experience, she shared valuable insights on career preparedness, leadership, the evolving corporate landscape, and transforming academic learning into meaningful professional achievements.

On 18 August 2026, the Department of Commerce, Saintgits College of Applied Sciences, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised “BizQuest – Business Quiz” at the Media Room. The event was conducted as a domain-related club activity under NAAC Criterion 6.1. The quiz provided students with an engaging platform to test and enhance their knowledge of business, entrepreneurship, and related areas, while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and healthy competition.

Onam Celebration 2026
Saintgits College of Applied Sciences celebrated Onam on 28 August 2026 with a range of festive activities. As part of the celebrations, the Department of Commerce organised a lively Lemon and Spoon Race. The event was coordinated by representatives of the Commerce Association, providing students with an opportunity to participate in a fun-filled activity and celebrate the spirit of Onam through teamwork and enthusiasm.

The Department of Commerce, in association with IQAC and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), conducted an Accounting Skill Enhancement Workshop titled “From Foundation to Confidence.” The workshop focused on strengthening accounting concepts through practical and workbook-based learning. The sessions provided students with valuable insights into the accounting process and helped enhance their conceptual understanding and confidence, particularly supporting slow learners and students from a non-commerce background.

The Department of Commerce, in association with IQAC and Yashus, conducted an Alumni Interaction Module for S1A featuring Mr. Kevin Thomas Johnson, Business Development Manager, Edyn Ltd. The session focused on “The Art of Strategic Networking & Resume Building Pointers.” The interaction provided students with valuable insights into professional networking, effective resume preparation, and career development.

The Department of Commerce, in association with IQAC and Yashus, conducted an Alumni Interaction Module for S1B featuring Mr. Johan Sen George, Assistant Manager, Wendy’s. The session on “Leveraging Education for Global Career Path” helped students understand how their academic learning can be effectively utilised to build a successful global career. The interaction offered practical guidance and motivation for their future professional journey.

Samyuktha 10.0
Students of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences brought laurels to the institution through their outstanding performances at Samyuktha 10.0, conducted at Saintgits College of Engineering, Computer Applications. Bhadra R (S1A B.Com) secured the 1st Prize in Best Singer, while Adlene Susan Biju (S1A B.Com) won the 2nd Prize in Star of Samyuktha. Adding to the achievements, the S5B B.Com team comprising Jeffry Joyson Varughese, Gabriel Philip Thomas, Shon Kuruvilla Sunil, and Lintu Punnoose Manoj secured the 1st Prize in the Treasure Hunt. Their talent, teamwork, and enthusiasm brought great pride to the college.

Venture Conclave
The Department of Commerce is happy to share that Gloria (S3A) and Rini (S3B) participated in the Venture Conclave held at Saintgits College of Engineering. As part of the entrepreneurial initiative, they presented a personalized gifting venture offering a wide range of creative and custom-made products, including gift hampers, handcrafted flower bouquets, memory frames, Polaroids, ring albums, mini albums, photo magazines, and wall posters. The venture showcased their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, innovation, and ability to transform ideas into a market-oriented business concept.
