Overview
The PG department of Commerce of Saintgits College of Applied Sciences was started in the year 2004, with B.Com, Computer Applications and is now one of the giant and leading department of the college. Currently, the department offers two undergraduate programmes namely; B.Com Computer Application and B.Com Taxation and one Post graduate programme M.com Finance & Taxation under Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. The department is blessed with outstanding results and bagged various university ranks during the past 10 years. Right from the beginning, the department has grown to a large tree with about 540 undergraduate students and 50 post-graduate students. Well qualified and experienced teachers are the strength of the department to cater the needs of the students. A well-equipped computer lab with student computer ratio of 1:1 is provided by the department for exploring more on the technology driven commerce education.

From HOD’s desk
Welcome to the Department of Commerce. The modern business requires highly trained and skillful young persons. This requirement has given due importance to commerce education. We cater to the students to train and educate to manage the highly complicated modern business to get the desired level of result from the trade. The programme syllabus is well in tune with the industry demand and the department seeks to nurture, challenge, support, and encourage our students to face the global challenges. In addition to the syllabus, we offer various value-added courses to enrich the knowledge of the students. One month On the Job Training( OJT ) is provided to the students to explore more on the organizational functioning. 1200 plus students were graduated and well placed in the Banking sector, logistic operations, leading audit firms, IT sector, and Other MNC’s, Teaching and own business. We ensure leadership quality by providing various responsibilities to build the managerial skills of the students.
