State-of-the-art Experimental and Numerical Techniques in Civil Engineering

About FDP

The Department of Civil Engineering, Saintgits College of Engineering organised an Online Faculty

Development Programme on STATE-OF-THE-ART EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL TECHNIQUES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING. The program was intended for the young KTU faculty aspiring/pursuing Ph. D. in various specialization under Civil engineering. It was inaugurated by Dr. Ayoob S., Pro Vice Chancellor, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) on 1st March 2021. Sixteen hand-picked experts presented the latest trends in experimental and numerical investigations in various streams of Civil Engineering.

The KTU sanction was for a 5-day FDP@6 hours per day (Total of 5×6 = 30 hours minimum) either in Online or Offline mode. This FDP was conducted in Online mode without affecting the regular work of the participating KTU faculty, with 2-hour sessions each day for 16 days from 1st March to 22nd March 2021, from 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm (Total of 16×2 = 32 hours). The FDP was well arranged and utilised six IIT professors, four NIT professors, one international academician, one deemed university faculty and four research-oriented faculty of KTU. The FDP was a free open course on various numerical techniques and experimental facilities that covered various fields like Geotechnical engineering, Transportation engineering, Ocean engineering, Water resources and Groundwater engineering, NDT and Corrosion controls. 80 faculty members from different parts of Kerala under KTU could interact with the well experienced academicians. The course material as well as recorded video of each session were shared to all the participants. Feedback collected from the participants after each session was quite positive and encouraging. On the whole the FDP was a grand success, and the Coordinators are glad to submit this report and requested documents to KTU for reimbursement.
