Saintgits Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning
Overview
The Saintgits Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (SCETL) was established in 2022 by the Indo Universal Collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) to transform engineering education. Our focus is on promoting innovative teaching strategies, fostering research in education and ensuring continuous faculty development.
At Saintgits, we follow an Active Learning approach, where students gain hands-on experience through real-world projects, experiments and internships. This hands-on method enhances problem-solving skills, critical thinking and collaboration, making learning more dynamic and effective. Faculty members mentor students individually, creating a supportive and interactive learning environment. Regular student feedback has been highly positive, showing increased engagement and motivation. Saintgits is committed to continuous faculty improvement through training programs and an annual faculty conclave, where educators share best practices in teaching and learning. Our training programs help faculty:
- Adopt innovative teaching methodologies and assessment tools
- Develop effective student evaluation techniques
- Strengthen student mentoring and feedback mechanisms
- Integrate research, innovation, and entrepreneurship into the curriculum
- Explore engineering pedagogy and outreach activities
- Build industry connections and internship opportunities
- Understand accreditation processes and rankings
SCETL benefits from the strong support of IUCEE which provides certification programs, engineering education research, conferences (ICTIEE), journal publications (JEET), leadership programs, various webinars including the Brent-Felder webinar series, along with curriculum development workshops led by international experts. IUCEE is connected with leading global organizations such as IFEES, GEDC, ASEE, ABET, IGIP and EPICS – international groups that support engineering education. It also collaborates with industry leaders like Dassault Systems, National Instruments, MathWorks, Quanser, Comsol and Emona Instruments, which provide advanced tools to enhance learning.
Vision
To be a leader in transforming engineering education by promoting innovative teaching strategies, research in education and continuous faculty improvement.
Mission
To foster an ecosystem for innovation in teaching, learning and assessment tools in engineering education and to nurture research and outreach activities in engineering pedagogy.
