  1. Mr. Abhishek Kurien , Eighth Semester received a research internship from Green Building Research Institute, USA for a period of 6 months with monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.00 (2021)
  2. Ms. Nazlin N., M Tech (GS) won the Best Paper Award in Track 8 of Geological Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering of the 3rd Conference of Arabian Journal of Geosciences. (Nov 2020)
  3. Ms. Anjali Satheesh, guided by Dr. Hari G. won the Best M Tech Thesis Award from I.G.S Kochi Chapter in November 2020.
  4. Mr. Philip George Kaithayil (2020) won the L&T Build India Scholarship for fully sponsored admission to M Tech programme and placement offer in L&T after completion of the programme.
  5. Ms. Harsha Mary Biju, S6 CEA -won the First prize for Online Quiz Competition and Alessandro Anil Mathew, S6 CEA -Runner Up for 3D Drawing competition NIRMAN 21 Organized by NITK Suratkal May14-16, 2021
  6. Department of Civil Engineering won first prizes for the events ‘Cadathon’ (Autocad drawing) and Paper Presentation Competition and third prize for Canoe Competition in the ASCE National Conference held at VIT Vellore (19-03-2021 to 21-03-2021).
  7. Ms. Anjaly Ann Joseph (2017-21) received the Chief Minister’s Student Excellence Award 2022 of Rs. 1 lakh. 
  8. Mr. Abhishek Kurian (2017-21) secured admission to a Master’s Programme at Texas A&M University with scholarship.
  9. Mr. Aswin S. Kumar of Sixth Semester Civil Engineering won the First Prize for the National Road Safety Quiz conducted by Agarwal College, Haryana, from a total of 411 contestants (11-02-2022). 
  10. Ms. Shimol Philip of 2018-21 M Tech Geomechanics and Structures won the Best M Tech Thesis Award from IGS Kochi Chapter (1-11-21).
  11. Team of students from Saintgits has won six prizes including three first prizes in various events organized by National Transportation Planning and Research Center in connection with the Road Safety Month 2022.
  12. Team of students consisting of Sherwin K Zachariah (S8 CE), Devesh K Nampoothiri (S6 CE), Ashwin Joseph (S6 CE), Maria Joseph (S4 CE), Reshma Varghese (S8 CE) who qualified in the ASCE India Region Annual Conference organized at Punjab Engineering College during March 2022 were selected to represent India during the Society-wide Final Competition of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Sustainable Solutions, hosted by Louisiana Tech University, Ruston, USA from June 3rd to 5th 2022. 
  13. Ms. Aleena T. Aji and Ms. Ann Marissa of M3 SECM won first and second prizes respectively for paper presentation competition organised by Nirma University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat (Oct 2021).

  3. Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy received approval from AICTE for an amount of Rs. 10,98,039 for the modernization of Transportation Engineering Laboratory (MODROBS). Sep 2020

  5. Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy and Er. Jithin Kurian Andrews received an amount of Rs. 50,000 from RAEUN Mercantile India Pvt Ltd for a study of Korean admixtures in road construction. (Jan 2021)
  6. Er. Hanna Paul received an amount of Rs. 1,40,000 as Research Seed Money in the year 2020.
  7. Dr. Anitha Joseph won the best paper award under Structural Engineering Stream, in the 6th Biennial Conference conducted at Government Engineering College Thrissur in December 2020.

Department Achievements

  1. Recognized by Local Self Government Department (LSGD), Government of Kerala for the outstanding contribution in association with the “Project Management Unit- Rebuilt Kerala Initiative, Local Self Government Department” during December 2019 to February 2020 and successfully completing Field Studies, Survey and Data Collection of designated roads of Alappuzha and Kottayam Districts in connection with the “Rebuilt Kerala” initiative for rebuilding the flood affected roads of Kerala.
  2. Signed an MOU with the Alapuzha Jilla Panchayath for the performance evaluation of 16 model road sections constructed with design and technical supervision of Saintgits College of Engineering jointly with NIT Warangal (November 2020)
  3. Signed an MOU with the Project Management Unit of Rebuilding Kerala Initiative, Govt of Kerala for offering service as a Second Tier Quality Monitor for the roads constructed by LSGD. (Dec 2020) 
  4. Conducted a two days training programme for LSGD engineers on ‘Quality Control Mechanism on PMU Works’ (27-28 October 2020, fully sponsored by LSGD (Coordinators Dr. Nivin Philip and Er. Cherian CK)
  5. Er. Jithin Kurien Andrews, Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy and Er. Cherian CK filed a patent application for the ‘Low Cost Equipment for Measuring Pavement Deflection Bowl’, Application Number- 202041046311, Journal Number- 45/2020. (Nov 2020)
  1. ASCE Saintgits Student Chapter became the first team from Kerala to build a concrete canoe (Winner of Rising Star Award in the National Concrete Canoe Competition).
  2. Student Project Groups guided by Dr. Reebu Zachariah Koshy and Er. Cherian C.K. received an amount of Rs. 34,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively from CERD KTU in 2020
  3. Department of Civil Engineering received a Letter of Honorable Mention from the American Society of Civil Engineers USA for outstanding activities of the student chapter in 2020. This recognition is received only by the top third of all Student Organizations. (March 29, 2021)
  4. Venustas 2021, first ever National Technical Festival of ASCE Student chapter was held from 12-06-21 to 27-06-21. Students from 60 colleges including 4 IITs participated.
  5. Faculty Development Programme ‘State of the Art Experimental and Numerical Methods in Civil Engineering’, sponsored by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, was held from 01-03-2021 to 27-03-2021 (Coordinators Er. Pinky Merin Philip and Dr. Anitha Joseph).
  6. Local Self Government Department (Govt of Kerala) empaneled Saintgits as one among the 12 engineering colleges in the state for third party quality monitoring of works under the Rebuild Kerala Initiative.
  7. As a Community Outreach Programme of the Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Nivin Philip provided voluntary technical support and supervision for the construction of a low-cost house for Vincent De Paul Society (July 2021)
  8. Structural Health Certification for Pain and Palliative Care Centre, Thiruvanchoor was provided by Department as a voluntary social work. Dr. Hari G., Er. Jithin Kurian Andrews, Er. Nirmal John Joy and Er. Alice Johnny participated in the programme held on 06-10-2021. 
  9. Government of Kerala included the department in the select panel of colleges for investigation works under the Kerala PWD (25-02-22).
  10. Dr. Hari G. coordinated an Atal FDP on ‘Geomechanics for Structural Engineers’ from 01-12-2021 to 05-12-2021.
  11. Department of Civil Engineering has become a Corporate Member of RILEM (The International Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures), France (April 2022).
  12. Started a Student’s Chapter of Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS). Chapter was formally inaugurated on 26-05-22.
  13. 28 students were given paid internship by the Kerala PWD for conducting traffic studies at Kottayam town.
  14. Total number of placement offers for 2018 -2022 batch of graduating students who got placement – 25 (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Capgemini, South Indian Bank, Federal Bank, Nael General Contracting UAE, Sobha Developers, Paradigm, S&R Consultants)
  15. New research facilities created– Giatec Icor, RCPT equipment, Freeze-thaw tester, Pull off tester, Rut tester, Dew-point Potentiometer
