The ASCE Saintgits Student Chapter of Saintgits College of Engineering was established to provide technical platforms for budding civil engineering students. ASCE Saintgits student chapter was officially authorized as one of the 25 student chapters in India in 2018. The student chapter served as a gateway to forums, panel discussions, and conferences that stimulate a student’s professional development. Preparation and presentation of technical reports and papers and cooperative efforts on research projects allow the students to test their technical expertise. The members of the ASCE Saintgits Student Chapter have won several prizes in national-level technical events over the years. The Saintgits ASCE team also marked history by building Kerala’s first-ever concrete canoe.
Objective and Purpose
The main objective of the ASCE Saintgits Student Chapter is to encourage its members to develop commendable knowledge in civil engineering and to advance in civil engineering. We also develop civil engineers with innovative ideas, leadership qualities, and high technical competencies to contribute efficiently to the industry and research.
The American Society of Civil Engineers, the oldest national professional engineering society, was founded in 1852 to enhance the welfare of humanity by advancing the science and profession of civil engineering.
Why join ASCE?
Becoming a member of ASCE gives students a chance to apply knowledge from the classroom to “real world” situations, like a concrete canoe, research, etc… Joining ASCE Saintgits Student Chapter not only allows students to apply their engineering knowledge in events but also learn about teamwork, leadership, and ethics that are necessary for the profession.
Members of ASCE also get the opportunity to give back to the community. ASCE Chapter coordinates community activities to reflect on differences made and make it a better place for all of us to live in.
