The Saintgits Students Chapter of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers was inaugurated on September 11, 2018. The invited guest for the event was Mr. Suresh Kumar P K, Chairman, IIChE- Kochi Regional Centre, FACT. The Chemical Engineering blog was inaugurated by our beloved Principal Dr. M. D. Mathew. The inaugural address was given by Dr. R. Venugopal Deputy Chief Controller of Explosives Kerala Circle, PESO, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Govt. of India. This is the leading professional body in the department, with all B. Tech students of the Chemical Engineering programme enrolled as members.

The Saintgits Students Chapter of The Institute of Engineers India IE(I) inaugurated on July 30, 2015 is the strongest professional organisation in the college, with more than 3000 B. Tech students from all the departments enrolled as members. The IE(I) Student Chapter of Chemical Engineering division was started on April 2nd, 2019

The major activities of IIChE and IE(I) Saintgits Chemical division activities include Invited talks, Paper presentation competition, Quiz completions, Webinar series, Seminar competitions, Poster competition, Project competitions etc.

Some of the major events conducted by IIChE and IE(I) students chapter include:

  • Expert talk on “Entrepreneurship Awareness for Chemical Engineers” by Mr. Xavier Thomas Kondody on 30.08.24.
  • INCEPTZ’24 – A National level idea pitch competition in association with IIChE and SACh on the theme: Materials and Energy for Environmental Sustainability on 05.04.24.
  • Essay writing competition in connection with National Energy Conservation Day 2023 on the theme: “Go Green for our Future” on 14.12.23.
  • Expert talk on the topic “Treatment of Industrial effluents” by Mr. Krishnan M N, Senior Environmental Engineer, KSPCB on 02.12.23.
  • Expert talk on the topic “India’s Energy Transition Towards Green Shift: Opportunities in Chemical Engineering” by Panneerselvam R, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Calicut on 02.11.23.
  • Online expert talk on the topic “Understanding Catalyst Deactivation Using Gas Adsorption” by Dr. Navin Gopinathan, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar on 19.05.23.
  • Guest Lecture on the topic “Mass Transfer and Its Significance in Chemical Engineering” by Dr. R. Rajesh Nithyanandam, Associate Professor, Department Chemical Engineering, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Chennai on 24.04.23.
  • National level Quiz Competition “KALIGA 22” in association with IIChE on 29.11.23.
  • Guest Lecture on the topic “Safety in Chemical Process Industries” by Dr. G. Madhu, Professor, Division of Safety and Fire Engineering, School of Engineering, Cochin University of Science and Technology, Kochi on 23.11.23.
