Overview
Electronics and Communication Engineering, an all-time favourite for students at Saintgits, is the study of electronics to facilitate communications and solve engineering problems. In addition to the smart phone revolution, the advent of Electronics System Design has opened up numerous opportunities in hardware design and production. The ever-increasing demand of electronic gadgets and appliances for daily use has capacities coming up in India, both national and multinational. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering came into existence in 2002, and the post-graduate courses in VLSI and Embedded systems were started in 2010 and Telecommunication Engineering in 2017. The Department is fully equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, committed and qualified teaching professionals, and a well-stocked department library. It boasts of a faculty student ratio of 1:10.
Students are guided into the exciting world of electronics by providing necessary technical knowledge and hands-on training. Students and faculty together organise global and national conferences, seminars, faculty development programs, and workshops, with assistance from professional chapters such as IEEE-SSCS, IEEE, IETE, ISTE, & IEI.
B. Tech. Applied Electronics and Instrumentation
Overview
Applied Electronics & Instrumentation engineering is one of the most preferred branches today. Instrumentation has become an all-encompassing field of engineering especially in an era of robotics and automation. Instrumentation engineers are essentially responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and maintaining systems which monitor parameters so as to ensure automated control of processes. Almost all processing and manufacturing industries such as aviation, automobile, petrochemical, power and defence have separate instrumentation department, where instrumentation engineers are employed. They are required in various roles like Control system design, Calibration, Automation, Quality control, Maintenance and so on. Opting Instrumentation engineering opens up a wide range of opportunities in the present digital world.
The Department of Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering (AEI) established in the year 2006, has now grown at a full fledge pace with well experienced faculty and sophisticated laboratories. Saintgits teaching-learning process emphasises on understanding concepts so as to enable the student for specific outcome orientation. The department also follows all the norms prescribed by the University, AICTE and NBA.
Apart from basic knowledge of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical subjects, the students learn Robotics, Mechatronics, Biomedical, Artificial Intelligence, Computerised Process Control, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing etc. These courses also help them to design, develop and fabricate various electronic related accessories. The department provides students with sound theoretical & practical training in the operation and design of electronic instruments, digital logic systems, and computer based automatic process control.
Vision
To be a model for academic excellence with international outlook in the realm of Electronics & Communication Engineering.
Mission
Impart analytical & technical skills in young minds to fortify the process of learning.
Equip them with state of the art technologies to meet growing challenges of the industry & have a successful career upholding ethical values.
HOD’s desk
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering is one of the three founding branches of Saintgits College of Engineering and offers a B Tech program in Electronics and Communication Engineering and an M Tech program in VLSI and Embedded Systems. The department is committed to mould students into industry-compliant engineers, through industry-supported tailor-made courses in association with professional bodies such as the IEEE. The highly motivated and technically innovative faculty members are specialized in the areas of VLSI, Embedded Systems, and Communication. The students are motivated to solve real-life problems by taking up socially relevant projects through industrial visits, in-plant trainings and national-level conferences and workshops, and exposure to state-of-the-art software and hardware. Students here can utilize the best of intellectual and technological infrastructure to gather skills to add value to their future workplaces.
