M. Tech. Telecommunication Engineering

M Tech in Telecommunication Engineering is a two-year programme offered by the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University, Kerala. Telecommunication is an exciting branch of electronics and communication engineering which spotlight the spectacle of modern communication technology using the state-of-the-art advancement in Microelectronics and Computers. Keeping the significance and demand for talented and qualified Telecommunication Engineer’s for the nation needs, the department is starting the M Tech programme in Telecommunication Engineering during the next academic year.

The department has competent and dedicated faculty well versed in teaching and dissemination of knowledge in the related topics of microwaves, satellite communication, Digital and wireless communication and optical communication. The students and the faculty of the department take part in national/international conferences as well as workshops and seminars in their areas of interest. This gives them valuable insight into global trends and advances in the telecommunications field.

This M Tech Program is designed to provide in-depth theoretical knowledge in the area of Communications, Signal Processing, and Wireless Networks, along with system modelling and integration aspects emphasizing overall system behavioural studies both in theoretical and practical aspects. At the end of the programme, the student achieves the ability to identify pressing research issues and research directions in Communications, Signal Processing, and Wireless Networks.

Value Added Course

To minimize the industry-academia gap for research scholars, this proposed initiative aims to equip them with hands-on training on industry-based tools to make them industry-ready. The syllabus for the course on VLSI has been prepared with the help of experts, such as Dr Jan Van, IEEE-SSCS, President, Dr Rakesh Kumar, former SSCS President & CEO, TCX Technology Connexions, California, Rakesh Malik, Sr Group Manager at ST Microelectronics, and Chair at IEEE SSCS Delhi chapter. The advisory board comprises, apart from Rakesh Malik, Dr Rakesh Kumar, president & CEO, TCX Technology Connexions, California and former SSCS president, Dr Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, JNU, New Delhi, Dr Rama S Komaragiri – Professor HOD, Bennett University, Uttar Pradesh, and Dr D Nirmal – Associate Professor, Karunya University, Coimbatore. Similarly, Digicore Technologies is the industry partner for the Embedded Systems course. The third course in Communication Engineering, with Ansys as their industry partner, is being planned for the students.
