E-BAJA
a)The BAJA SAE Series is an event for the undergraduate engineering students, organized globally by the Society of Automotive Engineers, USA.
b) The BAJA SAE tasks the students to design, fabricate and validate a single seater four – wheeled off road vehicle to take part in series of events spread over a course of 3 days that test the vehicle for the sound engineering practices that have gone into it, the agility of the vehicle in terms of gradability, speed, acceleration and manoeuvrability characteristics and finally its ability to endure that back breaking durability test.
c) The teams are judged on six main parameters in the Virtual BAJA event which are – their knowledge of the rule book, the design of the vehicle, the project plan, the design methodology and the design evaluation plain.
d) The evaluation process in the main event is a different ball game altogether and the students finally got to showcase their finished buggy’s to the judges.
e) In the static tests the buggy’s are evaluation on various factors such as cost, aesthetics and the quality of the fabrication.
f) There are also many dynamic tests such as acceleration. Braking, manoeuvrability over all terrain and a hill climb test.
E-WOUK Racing 1.0 Electric
The Electric Vehicle “E-Wouk Racing 1.0” designed and developed by the students of SAINTGITS got elected for participating in the SAE E-Baja 2020 competition
E-WOUK Racing 2.0 Electric
The Electric Vehicle “E-Wouk Racing 2.0” designed and developed by the students of SAINTGITS got elected for participating in the SAE E-Baja 2022 competition at Mahindra Racing Track at Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh from 01/05/2022 to 07/05/2022. E-WOUK RACING 2.0 is an electric ATV designed & fabricated by the students of EEE dept., under the guidance of Er Polly Thomas & Er Sreelal N. The vehicle was launched on 27th May 2022. The Falg off was done by Prof. Koshy Varghese – Vice Principal, SAINTGITS College of Engineering in the presence of Dean, HOD, Faculty and team members. Team comprised of 30 students (25 boys + 5 Girls) represented from EEE, ECE, ME, and RB branches.
All the 30 students participated in the SAE E-BAJA 2022 competition held at NATRAX, Pithampur, Madhyapradesh during 01 June to 05 June, 2022. The team cleared TI and qualified for the track events.
Team E-WOUK RACING 2.0 became the first electric ATV team from Kerala to qualify for the final endurance test in SAE E baja.
E-Wouk racing 3.0
In March 2023 competition was conducted at NATRAX Pithampur,Madhya Pradesh. Our team cleared electrical and mechanical technical inspection. Students got a hand on express on experience in the fabrication process. Er.Jess G Thomas got placed in Mahindra during the placement drive conducted at the event.
E-Wouk racing 4.0
In March 2024 competition was conducted at BVRIT,Hyderabad and our team cleared the electrical technical inspection in the first go, and mechanical technical inspection in the third go and our experience and hardwork paved a legacy as we surpassed all technical inspections and surpassed the brake test and gave us the oppurtunity to push our vehicle to its limits in the endurance race.
We have then emerged as the proud runners up for the women’s endurance race and qualified for the final rounds of the CAE Event.
Computer aided design（CAD）software was used to create accurate 3D models of the E- Baja vehicle The team performed finite element simulations using ANSYS software to analyze the vehicle’s structural integrity, aerodynamics, and overall performance.
Achievements include:
1) Cleared all Technical Inspections and brake tests and qualified for the Endurance Race
2) Among the top few teams to qualify for the CAE Event
3) Secured the Runner-Up position for the Women’s Endurance Race
4) Among the top 3 teams in Kerala securing the highest scores in Phase 1.
5) Among the top few teams from Kerala securing the highest scores in the Sales Presentation
E-Wouk racing 5.0
The 2025 tournament was place at BVRIT in Hyderabad from February 20 to 23. and our group passed both the mechanical and electrical technical inspections on their first and second attempts, respectively.
Achievements include
Secured the highest score in Phase 1 among the top few teams from Kerala.
